SNOHOMISH, Wash. – Willie Spurr scored his 10th goal of the season and chipped in two assists but despite 44 shots on goal, the Oly Town Artesians suffered a 7-5 road loss to the Snohomish Skyhawks on Saturday night.
Spurr opened the scoring for the Artesians in the first quarter and assisted the next two goals, the first a Marco Monzon goal in the second quarter and the third a Chris Pugh goal in the third. But Oly could muster just those three goals in the first three quarters and found themselves down 5-3 going into the fourth.
Matt Stalnik and Matt Herrera each tallied goals in the fourth quarter but the Artesians also allowed a pair to Snohomish and dropped to 3-2-1 with 10 points this season. The loss drops Oly Town to third place in the WISL behind the Tacoma Stars Reserves, who have an identical record but have the edge in goal differential.
A trio of former Artesians did damage for the Skyhawks. Brendan Rosgen scored twice and Aaron Burns and JC Henson each chipped in goals for Snohomish. Adrian Espinoza also scored twice and helped out with an assist to lift the Skyhawks to their second win.
The Artesians return to the cozy confines of The Pavilion at The Evergreen State College to defend their unbeaten home record against first place Bellingham United on Saturday, January 21st. First kick is scheduled for 6:00 PM, doors open at 5:15.
