Top Two WISL Teams Square Off at The Pavilion on Saturday Night

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The second place Oly Town Artesians will defend their undefeated home record when first place Bellingham United comes to town on Saturday night at 6:00 PM. The Artesians are 3-0-0 at The Pavilion at Evergreen this season and sit alone in second place with 10 points, five points behind the Hammers.

The WISL playoff race is heating up with five of six teams sitting within three points of each other. The top four teams make the playoffs. Oly Town sits in second with 10 points, the Olympic Force are second with nine points and the Tacoma Stars Reserves, Sporting Everett and the Snohomish Skyhawks round out the standings with seven points each. The Artesians face Bellingham, Tacoma, Snohomish and Olympic to round out the regular season.

Willie Spurr leads the way for the Artesians with 10 goals and seven assists this season, including eight goals over the last three games, and has extended his Artesians career goals record to 26 goals in 18 games over three seasons. Goalkeeper JJ Olson has started every game between the pipes and now holds the career record for most goalkeeper wins with three. Olson has racked up 329 minutes this season and holds a 6.93 goals against average.

The Artesians traveled to Bellingham on December 10th and struggled offensively on the big field at The Sportsplex dropping a 10-2 decision to the Hammers. Nate Boatright and Luke Chouinard each scored for the Artesians while Oscar Jimenez and Richard Henderson each tallied hat tricks for Bellingham.

The Hammers are 5-2-0 this season and lead the WISL with 53 goals, but are 1-2-0 on the road. They hold a dominating 5-0-0 advantage over the Artesians all-time.

Tickets for Saturday night’s game are available at the door and are $8 for adults and $5 for kids 5-12. Kids under five are free. Doors for the 6:00 PM first kick open at 5:15.
