OLYMPIA, Wash. – After a long layoff, the Oly Town Artesians finally return to action on Saturday when they travel to Snohomish to take on the Skyhawks in Western Indoor Soccer League action. The Artesians are looking to avenge a shocking result in the season opener on November 11th when the Skyhawks exploded for 15 goals at The Pavilion at Evergreen in a 15-6 Artesians loss. First kick at the Snohomish Soccer Dome is at 7:00 PM.
Gabriele Zaccagnini and Nate Boatright lead the way for the Oly Town with two goals, both notching braces in the season opener. Tonbra Akpobodor and JT Meyer each added a goal in the loss. Brad Hanson and JJ Olson split time at goalkeeper in the opener with Olson expected to get the start on Saturday.
Snohomish is 1-1-0 so far this season and currently sit in second place in the five team WISL. Andrew Escalante was named WISL Offensive Player of the Week for his hat tick against the Artesians in week one. One week later, the Skyhawks battled but eventually dropped a 7-3 decision to the Tacoma Stars Reserves. Alex Molchan and Paul Burgess each have four goals over their first two games.
The Artesians have struggled against the Skyhawks since Snohomish joined the league for the 2015-2016 season, posting just a 1-4-0 record. They have never managed a victory on the high walls at the Snohomish Soccer Dome. Oly lost 4-2 on December 12th, 2015 and then fell 7-5 in their last trip to the Dome on January 14th, 2017.
Next week, the Artesians travel to Bremerton to face the Olympic Force before returning home on Saturday, December 16th for a battle against the Tacoma Stars Reserves. First kick at The Pavilion on the 16th is scheduled for 6:30 and tickets can be purchased by visiting www.olytownfc.com/tickets.
