OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Oly Town Artesians welcome the 2017 Evergreen Premier League champion Seattle Stars to town on Sunday afternoon at Wembley Soccer Shop Field at Black Hills High School. It’s a Mother’s Day Special with flowers for moms and a post game kick around on the field. First kick is set for 4:00 PM and gates open at 3:15. Tickets are just $8 for adults, kids 5-12, military and seniors are $5, and kids under 5 are free.

The Artesians enter Sunday’s game at 0-0-1 with one point in the EPLWA after securing a draw against Bellingham United on a late goal by Christian Segovia last Saturday. Goalkeeper JJ Olson made ten saves in the draw and JT Meyer had the assist on Segovia’s goal.

Yelm alum and former OKC Energy (USL) midfielder Daniel Gonzalez will make his EPLWA debut with the Artesians on Sunday after missing the first game against Bellingham. Gonzalez had four goals in the preseason including a pair of goals in a 5-2 win over the NPSL’s OSA FC.

The Stars open their 2018 season on Saturday against the Olympic Force after a bye in week one. Seattle went 10-1-3 in 2017 behind 14 goals by all-time EPLWA goals leader Tyler Bjork. But Bjork is no longer with the team and the 2018 roster features just three players that notched a combined four goals last season. The Stars also made a coaching change with former Seattle U player and Seattle Sounder Santamaria Rivera taking over at the helm.

Oly and Seattle have already met once this season with Seattle scoring two late goals in the second game of the Eddie Craggs Memorial Evergreen Cup to take a 3-2 win. Issa Hassan and Angel Trejo-Delgado scored in the short preseason tourney game for the Artesians.

Sunday’s game and all Artesians home games will have a live video webcast by the Eli Sports Network. Visit www.elisportsnetwork.com/esn-live to watch.

Supporters of both teams are invited to join the Artesians at the official after party at Well 80 Brewhouse following the game. Fans can get 10% off food and 20% off beer just by saying they are an Artesian. Well 80 is located at 514 4th Avenue East in Downtown Olympia.
