Artesians Suspend On-Field Operations Due To COVID-19 Concerns

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Out of an abundance of caution and putting the health and safety of our players, staff and supporters first during this time, the Oly Town Artesians are suspending all on-field operations effective immediately. We will continue to monitor the situation and reassess on March 22nd in the hope that we can continue the Women’s Western Indoor Soccer League season and begin the tryout process for our men’s Evergreen Premier League outdoor season.

Due to this decision, the Oly Town Artesians women will not play this Saturday against Tacoma Narrows at the Tacoma Soccer Center and we will postpone our home game on Saturday, March 21st. The decision to postpone our women’s games were made after careful and emotional consideration. The team has played just two games but the support and enthusiasm for the team has been breathtaking and we are heartbroken to have to put a hold on this fantastic season.

We are also postponing all trainings and tryouts for the Artesians men’s outdoor season during this time period.

We have benefited from the community’s support and now we want to return the favor by doing what we can to help keep our community healthy. Thank you for your understanding.

As we move forward, our home game and practice facilities are located at a public high school and a state college, so we will be following their decisions and actions closely and will reassess the situation on March 22nd.

UPDATE (3/23): there have been lots of developments since our first statement about Coronavirus/COVID-19 postponements. Taking all of that into consideration and with both of our facilities (Black Hills HS & Evergreen) closed until at least April 27th, we obviously will not have any on-field activities until at least that time. We will continue to work with the Evergreen Premier League and Western Indoor Soccer League in the hopes of playing a 2020 outdoor season and continuing the women’s indoor season at some point in the future.

Please please please…stay home, stay safe and let’s kick this darn virus. Then we will have a big Olympia soccer party when we can.
