Oly Town Finishes Closest on the Road Game Against Tacoma Stars Reserves

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Coming off of a loss last week, Oly town came out strong Saturday night against the Tacoma Stars Reserves. Two goals were scored by Collin Tate and one from Sebastian Lyons. Unfortunately, three goals was not enough, and the Tacoma Stars Reserves registered a 4-3 win. This loss dropped the Artesians to 0-2-0.

Oly town struck first with a power play between Sebastian Lyons and Nate Murphy shortly into the first quarter. Steve Mohn answered back or the stars tying up the game 1-1.

With one minute left in the first quarter, Oly town took the lead 2-1 with a goal from defender Collin Tate.

The Stars came out hungry in the second quarter scoring two goals back to back in the twelfth minute leaving Oly Town down 2-3 going into halftime.

Veteran goalkeeper JJ Olson was substituted out with last year’s league winning Bellingham goalkeeper Nate Salveson.

A scoreless third quarter was finished with a Tacoma Stars Reserves power play, but no result.

Tacoma Reserves struck a goal when AJ Nitzel received a pass right in front of the goal from Edward National. Collin Tate struck back with an assist from Nick Mejia for his second goal of the night, bringing the score back to a competitive 3-4 with 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter. 

The game came down to the wire. 2:38 left in the game, a boarding foul lands a Blue for Oly town. Despite The Stars attempting two power plays in the last few minutes, Oly town did not step down and allow any more goals in.

The Artesians will look to rebound on Saturday, November 20th, when they host their first home game of the season at The Evergreen State College Pavilion against Oly-Pen Force. First Kick is set for 7PM.
