OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Oly Town Artesians kicked off their indoor season at The Pavilion Saturday, February 12th, against Tacoma Galaxy. They put up a battle in the second half, but unfortunately Tacoma Galaxy rallied for 8 goals in the first half and the Artesians were unable to fully make a comeback. Tacoma took a 11-7 victory in the first game of the Northwest Premiere League indoor season.
#19, Alyssa Andrews got one in right out of the gate for Tacoma. Before Oly Town could recover, #17, Nicole Williams raised Tacoma’s score 2-0. Before the end of the first quarter, Jacaueline Corley, #15 got a third goal in for Tacoma Galaxy.
Oly Town attempted to recoup, but by the end of the second quarter, Tacoma had built an 8-0 lead.
It truly was the tale of two halves. Oly Town did not give up and was determined to prove themselves in this league. And that they did.
In the first 2 minutes of the third quarter, Kailey Utley made an impact on the game and got the score going for Oly Town. Tacoma #17 responded back, scoring her third goal of the night, bringing the score to 9-1.
In the next 5 minutes, Oly Town exploded for 3 goals. One from Chloe Narolski, one from Lily Dose, and one from Eden Comstock. The score quickly became 9-4.
Before the end of the third quarter, Tacoma extended their lead by 2 more goals and also managed to put one in the back of their own net. An 11-5 score was a daunting sight for the Artesians, nevertheless, they did not give up.
Oly Town kept Tacoma off the board for the entire fourth quarter. Rebecca Hummer scored her first of the night and Lily Dose got her second in for the night. With less than 2 minutes left in the game, an 11-7 score ended Saturday night’s game.
The Artesians will look for revenge at the end of this month when they face off against Tacoma Galaxy again on their home turf in Tacoma.
