OLYMPIA, Wash. – On Saturday, April 9th, Oly Town (#3 position) hosted Snohomish County FC (#2 position) at the Evergreen State College Pavilion. In order to have a chance at continuing this season, Oly Town needed a win. Unfortunately, Snohomish went away with a 6-5 win over the Artesians and will advance to the Northwest Premier League Indoor championship against the Tacoma Galaxy.

Snohomish scored first and kept Oly Town scoreless in the first half. By the third quarter they had built a 4-0 lead over Oly Town. Fortunately, Oly Town was able to capitalize on a mistake out the back from Snohomish when Kailey Utley was given the ball, and finally got Oly Town on the board. 4-1 with 9:08 left in the third quarter.

On a power play, Erin Danielson scored her first of the night closing the gap 4-2. Minutes later, Snohomish goalkeeper was caught off her line when Mikayla Rawlings managed to get a long 3-quarter field clearance into the back of the net. Snohomish was still up 4-3, but it was now a single goal game.

With just seconds left in the third quarter, Snohomish got in another goal bringing their lead up to 5-3.

Minutes into the final quarter, Kailey Utley scored her second of the night which was also her 24th goal in eight games. This stands to be a new single season record for both men and women across the Western Indoor Soccer League and Northwest Premier League indoor. Congrats Kailey!

Shannon McMahon scored her first of the night with 7:04 left in the fourth quarter off a ball from Celia Scruton. This goal tied up the game 5-5!

Unfortunately, Snohomish scored again and Oly Town was unable to get another goal before the end of the game.

Oly Town needed a win to stay alive this season and fell short this game. Despite the loss, Oly Town sends a major ‘Best of Luck’ to both Snohomish County and Tacoma Galaxy in their Championship game. Thank you to everyone who came out to support Oly Town this season and well done to the ladies for a great season.
