New Head Indoor Coach Named to Artesians

OLYMPIA, WA – Just weeks ago Oly Town announced Matt Herrera as “Interim” Men’s Head Indoor Coach but the hunt for a new coach has ended with the promotion of Assistant Coach Nick Boatright to Head Skipper for the 2022-23 Season. Nick Boatright has been a prevalent soccer coach locally covering Timberline High School, Black Hills Football Club, Cascadia League Head Coaching Duties as well as assisting the Evergreen State College Men’s Program.

“I am most looking forward to learning” says new head coach Nick Boatright, “I have always set the intention that when I decide to work with a team I have to grow through the process and be a better version of myself. I find that is the best way to serve the players, team and club.”

The Boatright Family are no strangers to the soccer community let alone the Artesians with Thomas, Nate and Nick Boatright (Father and Sons) all having worked for the club through the years.

“The Boatrights have left an indelible mark on local soccer from Tom coaching at Evergreen, Nate being a standout collegiate player and Oly Legend and now Nick in the mix as a local coaching guru. Analytically and foundationally, Nick brings a whole new level of strategic development as he dives deep into practice and competition prep better than most” said Ryan Perkins, Principal Owner of the Oly Town Artesians.

Oly Town comes into the 2022-23 season having fought well the previous year losing to Bellingham United in the Semifinals. Bellingham would later lose to the Tacoma Stars in the Championship which saw send offs as a late game brawl occurred.

“I can’t wait to see all of you on the 5th of November, and for all of you to see the team. To me, this is what Oly Town is about, the community and fans are the heart of the club. The game is best when it is shared. To see soccer thriving in this area is to have the soccer community united” says Coach Nick Boatright.
