The Artesians announce the rebrand of their local supporters group that pays homage to the capitol cities roots, brewing beer. “The 1896” is a play on the establishment year of the “Olympia Brewing Company” which by Leopold Schmidt in 1896. Schmidt constructed the first brewery buildings at the bottom of the Deschutes River Falls just beyond the very south end of the Puget Sound where he created Olympia Beer. The expansion of Olympia Brewing through the generations would be significant in Olympia’s tourism, commerce and worldwide acclaim.

“The 1896” Supporters Scarf!

The Oly Town Artesians crest and mascot were based on Olympia Brewing Company artwork including the horseshoe. Common misconception is that our horseshoe is upside down for truly being good luck however if you drink out of an Olympia Beer can the horseshoe is upside down while drinking it hence giving you “good luck.”

The Artesians also announced that “The 1896” will have a team and supporters group ambassador in Patrick Hutnik. Click here to visit the official page for the new supporters group.

The first “The 1896” drop by meeting is any time between 5-7PM April 13th at Well 80 Brewhouse. Game Day Volunteers, prospective employees and folks wanting to join the supporters group are encouraged to pop by and learn about USL season opportunities and at minimum become a member of “The 1896.”
