Artesian Women Travel to Eugene while Men Host Ballard

Weekend Preview: May 19 & May 21

Oly Town FC @ Lane United | 7PM May 19 | Eugene, OR

The USL W League heads to Eugene, Oregon Friday May 19th to square off against Lane United. Lane opened their season last weekend against Capital Atletica with a 0-4 loss. Both clubs are a part of the new westward expansion in the Pacific Northwest which has five teams competing for regional bragging rights before a USL national playoff berth is awarded.

Oly Town opened their season May 14th against PDX FC and found the back of the net twice while the defense recorded a shutout. Suzuka Yosue and Kendyl Sarver both had goals in their name as Diera Walton and Shu Ohba split time at goalkeeper.

Ballard FC @ Oly Town FC | 3PM May 21 | Olympia, WA

Oly Town plays host to in-state rival Ballard FC Sunday May 21 here in Olympia at South Sound Stadium. The matchup will feature Ballard’s opening match of USL play for the 2023 season and an Artesian Men’s team that opened divisional play last Sunday against PDX. Oly Town won handily 3-0 with a shutout from Charlie Lanphier, a brace from Cooper Brunell and a 90th minute goal by Trevor Thompson.

The Artesians dropped two games in their inaugural year (2022) to Ballard and look to shift the balances in 2023. Ballard was able to make it to the first round of the national tournament but lost in the opening round. Both teams are currently the only USL League Two representation from the state of Washington.
