Oly Town 2 United PDX 0
Oly Town are off to a winning start in USL League Two (USL2) competition securing a 2-0 win to move squarely into second place in the Northwest Division with a 3-1-0 record. The Artesians played Portland, Oregon based United PDX two matches in a row, once away and Sunday at home in front of their Olympia, Washington fans.

The Artesians jumped out to an early 11-minute mark lead when a foul in the box by United PDX goalkeeper resulted in not only a broken nose but also a yellow card for the keeper. The card in the box earned a penalty kick for the Artesians that was scored by University of Washington forward Chris Peretti.
The defense led by captain Jack Sluys and Camron Miller held the United PDX attack at bay for the entirety of the match. A far cry from the five goals they gave up in week three. The defense had several key shot blocking moments in the box to help Goalkeeper Charlie Lanphier secure a shutout. Lanphier, a Seattle University keeper, received his third starting nod from skipper Liviu Bird this season.
The scoring would end in the 53rd minute with Belize International Desmond Wade scoring on a loose ball in the middle of the penalty box. Wade recorded his first goal of the year since traveling to the United States to play in the path to professional leagues of USL2.

Oly Town 3 CFC Atletica 0
The women of Oly Town who came off a road trip win to Portland, OR last Thursday returned home Sunday to a crowd of 300 people eager to see the undefeated USL W League squad in action. The Artesians are in the first year of their USL W League franchise in an expansion division featuring five Pacific Northwest teams across Oregon and Washington.

The Artesians and Atletica battled evenly throughout the first half as Utah State University goalkeeper Diera Walton recorded six saves to keep Atletica on their toes. It was Walton’s third match in uniform as four different goalkeepers have seen the field this season for the Artesians including Shu Ohba (Ole Miss), Kat Asman (Penn State), Diera Walton (Utah State) and Megan Nail (Univ of Washington).
Coach Chris Wells halftime adjustments and substitutes saw a night and day second half with a goal from McKenna Martinez and two goals from Maddie Kemp. Kemp is a college standout after scoring a record 141 goals in varsity high school soccer in Camas, Washington. The goal by Oregon State Beaver forward Martinez adds two straight games she has been able to find the back of the net.
Washington Huskies goalkeeper Megan Nail was able to hold down the back third and secure Oly Town’s second shutout of the year. The win keeps the Artesians top of the table in the Northwest division of the USL W League.
The Artesians have a break in USL play until June 18th when they travel to United PDX for their second road meeting of the year.
