SEATTLE, WA — The 2023 Oly Town Artesian USL Men’s postseason ended Sunday on a 3-0 loss to #1 northwest seeded Ballard FC. The loss came after a resounding 4-0 win by the Artesians against undefeated #1 Seed Park City Red Wolves last Friday.

Oly Town spent much of the game in a back and forth possession war with Ballard FC but Ballard struck first before half on a low strike in the penalty box that went towards the far post and in.
Charlie Lanphier got the nod again at keeper after a solid year in goal for the Artesians and blanking the Red Wolves last Friday at Interbay Stadium. Lanphier had many saves but was unable to hold off the relentless attack.
Several substitutions to start the second half were due to excessive heat on the field and tired legs for the Oly Town men. Artesian Federico Russo’s late challenge in the box awarded Ballard a penalty kick and subsequent goal for Ballard to go up 2-0.

Before the end of the second half Declan McGlynn scored a gimme all alone in the right side of the box for the lead to increase 3-0. The final whistle marked the end of the 2023 campaign for the Oly Town Artesians.
Oly Town had a massive year after placing fourth in 2022 by finishing 2023 in second with a 7-5-2 overall record and getting the #2 seed to enter the national playoffs. The Artesians had a win in the postseason during the round of 32, the first in the clubs history in USL competition out of all programs.
Oly Town thanked USL2 players, staff and coaches to close out the year on social media postgame. Stay tuned for end of year awards and more!
