OLYMPIA, WA – FC Olympia’s Artesian men’s arena team head north towards the Canadian border to face off against a familiar foe, the Bellingham Hammers in the Western Indoor Soccer League semifinals. The Artesians are coming off a resounding 7-2 road, quarterfinal win, the first in the clubs history.
#6 seeded Oly-Pen Force upset #3 Everett last weekend in a second half nailbiter winning 6-5. The Force play against #1 Tacoma Stars at the Tacoma Soccer Center tomorrow night in the other semifinal. If Oly-Pen out of Bremerton, Washington can find a way to upset the Stars and the Artesians knock off Bellingham, there could be a possible final match at the Evergreen State Pavilion.
“We’ll have to play clean ball” said Head Arena Coach Nick Boatright. “Bellingham is a hard place to play and our focus will be keeping our heads and not gifting goals.”
The Artesians under head coach Nick Boatright and captain Nate Boatright sealed a 2-year undefeated streak for home matches at the pavilion. Both look to find a way to get the Artesians home for a final game in Olympia, Washington and have that be a Championship.
730PM kickoff is set for tomorrow night at the Bellingham Sportsplex. Tickets are available at the door.
“If Olympia really wants probability to go up to make a cup final they need to make the trek to Bellingham and get loud for the Artesians” said owner Ryan Perkins. “Its a haul but friends, family and supporters need to take a half day Saturday and support the men to have a fighting chance at a final.”
Bellingham had a bye in the quarterfinal round having beat the Artesians in a close match 5-6 two weeks ago in the regular season making the men’s arena squad travel to South Sound FC to open the playoffs. Jesus Flores would go on to score two goals as well as Alan Barragan meanwhile Isaiah Damschen blanked Sound for nearly 40 minutes of play.
