About Us

Who are the Oly Town Artesians?

PRO-AM SOCCER - Oly Town is a WA-State club that provides professional-amateur soccer for both men and women.  Founded in 2014, Oly Town competes in USL (outdoor) soccer and arena (indoor) soccer.  The Artesians also have youth soccer camps, youth tournaments and free youth ticketing through the Oly Soccer Foundation. 

"ARTESIAN" (are-TEE-shun) Oly Town is originally from Olympia, WA and pays homage to our Capitol cities historic brewing practices but mainly the magical water that bubbles from the ground throughout downtown Olympia.  "Artesian" water comes from years traveling underground from surrounding snow capped mountains, nearby hills and rivers.

How can I get involved?

COME TO THE GAMES.  Oly Town Soccer does not exist without folks coming to the games.  Make sure and secure your season tickets and single game match tickets and spread the word on in the community and Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

OLY SOCCER FOUNDATION.  Oly Town is designed to provide pathways for youth and adults to advance their soccer experiences.  The Oly Soccer Foundation was founded in 2022 and provides free youth ticketing to USL Matches, Equipment/Apparel for low income families and youth soccer education camps. Oly Town is looking for energetic full time, paid internship, part time and/or volunteer staff to help provide the best soccer experience for the local community as well as its coaches and players. Nick Boatright | Arena Men’s Head Coach

Nick Boatright joined the club in 2021 as Assistant EPLWA Coach for Jason Gjertsen. Nick has racked up a number of coaching accolades during his tenure at Timberline High School, Black Hills Football Club, Oly Town Artesians, Cascadia Premier League and the Evergreen State College Men’s Soccer Program. Nick was promoted to Head Western Indoor Soccer League Coach for the Artesians October 2022. Nick has the only undefeated arena home record in club history and in 2022-23 his squad had the most goals scored (106).

Matt Herrera | Arena Women’s Head Coach

Matt Herrera returns to the Artesians soccer program as skipper of the women’s indoor team. Matt is an Oly Legend having played 5 years in Arena (2014-19), coached the men’s side and help create the outdoor Oly Town program with EPLWA in 2017. Matt has an 18-year high school varsity career and is a 3-time 3A League Coach of the Year recipient. Matt has two kid’s and resides in Olympia.

Vanessa Crisp | USL W GM & Arena Asst Coach

Vanessa Crisp joined the Oly Town Artesians the inaugural women’s indoor team year in 2020. Crisp has played goalkeeper multiple seasons for the Artesians indoor team and also assisted in game day management for the NWPL Championship Winning Team in 2022. Crisp was promoted to USL W League GM just days after USL announced westward expansion that included Oly Town FC. Vanessa is a long-time soccer player and enthusiast and a native of Olympia.

Brad Hanson | Arena Keeper Coach

Brad is an assistant for multiple programs within Oly Town. Brad was a keeper for the indoor Artesians squad for two years and played in the Cascadia League for another two seasons. Hanson also played EPLWA for two seasons with the Artesians. Brad resides in Shelton, WA with his family.

Chris Wells | USL W League Head Coach

Coach Wells signed with Oly Town in December 2022 for the 2023 USL W League season. Chris is a recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for Division One Seattle University Women’s Soccer. Wells most recently served as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Highline College for five years. Wells helped win a WAC regular-season title in 2021 for Seattle U.  Wells served a key role on the Redhawks’ staff and helps with the program’s recruiting efforts. Wells helped Highline to a Northwest Athletic Conference title in 2017, as the team went 19-0-1. The Thunderbirds won at least 14 games in each of Wells’ five seasons with the team. Wells was named 2017 Northwest Premier League Coach of the Year after guiding the Stars to a 9-1-0 record and a regular season title. Prior to that stint, Wells was a volunteer assistant with the Seattle Reign for three seasons. The Reign won two National Women’s Soccer League Shields in his tenure.

Liviu Bird | USL League Two Head Coach

Coach Liviu signed in December 2022 to helm the 2023 USL2 Franchise for Oly Town.  Liviu Bird coached at Columbus Crew, Kitsap Pumas, Seattle Sounders U23 and at Pacific Lutheran University.  Liviu comes to Olympia with a USSF A License and UEFA A License, as well as an array of nationwide experience as an analyst and journalist.  Most notable was his MLS Cup championship win as a Columbus Crew video analysis coach.  Liviu played as a goalkeeper at Seattle Pacific University and moved into coaching shortly after graduating.  Liviu resides in Silverdale with his wife and one daughter.

Rachel Ross | USL W League Assistant Coach

Rachel joins the Oly Town FC crew again as before she helmed the Artesian Women’s first ever outdoor exhibition series summer with a 4-0-1 record. She is a decorated Pacific Lutheran University Soccer standout with two years of All Conference and a D3 All Region athlete. Ross is a staff coach at Washington Premier and an ECNL Assistant Coach.

Ozer Kocdemir | USL League Two Assistant Coach

USSF C License. Working toward UEFA B License. Ozer joined the Artesians for the USL League Two 2023 season as an assistant coach and video analyst. Kocdemir was honored in the Tacoma News Tribune as 3A Coach of the Year from the SCC division where he brought Peninsula High School its first ever Boys Soccer League Title. Ozer is well verse in film analysis and player applications. Kocdemir also coaches at Washington Premier for various ages and is originally from Sweden where he played comparable path to professional soccer.

Kelvin Galvez | USL League Two Player Development

USSF B License. Master’s in High Performance Soccer (Barcelona). Kitsap Pumas AC. FC Levante-Las Planas assistant coach / scout (Catalan third division). Eastside FC youth coach

Eden Comstock | Social Media Manager

Eden joined the club’s front office in October of 2023 as the social media platforms manager. Eden was a part of the clubs first ever league cup win in 2022 in the NWPL.

Kyle Wiese | Business Development

Kyle returns to the club after a two-year hiatus to welcome his first child. Kyle is an Oly Legend having been on the inaugural 2014 team and played in arena and EPLWA till 2020 and in management from 2016 to 2021.

Jesse Garramone | Fan & Player Experience

Jesse joined the front office in May of 2022 as a stadium operations assistant and has grown to care greatly about the player and fan experience and engagement. Garramone also players keeper for the arena teams.

Julie Smith | Volunteer Coordinator & Auction Director

Julie Smith joined the Oly Town family in the winter of 2021 and has been a huge help to the club with game day and event management. Find Julie on game day running the merchandise tent or ticket tables and say hi!

Patrick Hutnik | Game Day Ops

Pat joined the Artesians in 2022 for his first arena season and partakes in game day promos and fan experience. Pat is a local officer and loves local soccer. He resides in south Olympia with his family.

Jason Smith | Part Owner & Director of Soccer

Jason Smith was invited to join the current ownership in 2021 and comes with a plethora of soccer coaching and management experience. Blackhills FC, Shelton High School and USL coaching experience. Smith also owns a construction company called GGCW Renovations. Jason resides in Shelton, WA with his family.

Ryan Perkins | Principal Owner & Operator

Ryan purchased Oly Town FC and Olympia Indoor Soccer in 2021 to help move the Artesians into the USL National Franchise Market and expand its community soccer programming. Perkins is a former Goalkeeper and Partnerships Director for the Artesians since 2016. Ryan played for Premier One Clubs in youth winning multiple state titles including traveling to Mexico and Germany with the Seattle Sounders and was an All-American Goalkeeper voted AP All-State for Washington State. Ryan graduated from the University of Washington where he was on scholarship for the Huskies. Ryan resides in Lacey, WA with his partner Elizabeth and their 4 children.
