The Oly Town Artesian Soccer crest, name and mascot pay homage to Olympia, Washington’s historical brewing practices which all began in, you guessed it, 1896! Leopold Schmidt started the original “Capital Brewing Company” in 1896 that made Olympia Beer from the lower falls of the Deschutes River on the south end of the Puget Sound. This was 6 short years before the brewery renamed to “Olympia Brewing” in 1902.
