OLYMPIA, Wash. – On Saturday, December 11th, Oly Town hosted their second home match of the season against the Portland Blacktails. Jason Fairhurst made his indoor soccer debut for the Artesians, and with a goal just three minutes into the first quarter he made it known he was on the field.

Minutes after Fairhursts goal, on a ball in from Manny Nicasio, Collin Tate managed to sneak one into the back of the net, extending Oly Towns lead 2-0.

Being down 2-0, Portland fought hard. Isaac Vargas, #3 for the Blacktails split the Oly Town defenders to get one in with five minutes left in the half! Seconds later, #9, Adrian Rubio closed the gap and tied the game up 2-2.

Rubio wasn’t finished for the Blacktails, with just seconds in the first quarter, he nailed a header into the upper right corner, and just like that, Portland took the lead 3-2.

The second quarter kicked off and Portland increased their lead to 4-2.

Portland wasn’t able to keep the lead for long. Jason Fairhurst came in and scored his second of the night. Without skipping a beat, Collin Tate laid one off and Fairhurst smashed in his third!

The game was now tied 4-4, but there was still time left in the quarter. With just a minute and a half left, Collin Tate scored his second of the night and Oly Town took the lead 5-4.

Just when you thought the quarter was over, #16 for the Artesians, Dylan Chavez, scored and secured Oly Towns 6-4 lead going into halftime.

Quarter three started off with a Portland Blue Card from #10, Luis Santamaria. But the blue card was closely followed by a Portland goal from Adrian Rubio.

Oly Town responded and exploded with a pair of goals. One from Collin Tate, his third of the night, and one from Jordan Zimmerman. The score was now 8-5 with just two minutes left in the third quarter.

Portland #9 scored the last goal in the third quarter, and his third of the night! Oly Town went into the fourth quarter with the lead 8-6.

Oly Town kicked off the fourth quarter with a goal from Kasey Sidor, followed by a goal from Josh Dube. Seconds later, a goal from Alex Vogt! Oly Town went up 11-6, with nine minutes left in the game.

Both teams continued the battle through the rest of the fourth quarter. Collin Labranche received a blue card, Alex Vogt scored his second of the night, and Portland responded with two back-to-back goals! The final buzzer blew and Oly Town recorded their second win of the season 12-8.

The Artesians remain undefeated at home and will look to keep it that way this Saturday, December 18th, at 7PM, when they face off against Snohomish County FC for the second time this season.
