Oly Town Takes Down the Whatcom Waves in Bellingham

OLYMPIA, Wash. – For their second match of the season, Oly Town traveled up to the Bellingham Sportsplex to face off against the Whatcom Waves. The two teams fought neck and neck in the first half, but by the second quarter Oly Town took the lead and in the third quarter Oly Town smashed in 3 goals to extend their lead and leave Bellingham with an 8-5 win over Whatcom.

Right out the gate with 12:30 left in the first quarter, Whatcom received a blue card. Oly Town was able to capitalize on their man-up when Lexi Myers got one in.

Within the next 3 minutes, Oly Town took a hit when Whatcom managed to finish 3 goals! With 9:25 left in the first quarter, Whatcom was now in the lead 3-1.

A foul on Mikayla Rawlings led to Lily Dose getting her first goal of the night on a penalty kick. This concluded the first quarter, 3-2 Whatcom.

Whatcom kicked off the second quarter with a goal. However, Kailey Utley scored a hat trick to give Oly Town a lead that they were able to hold for the rest of the game.

Oly Town dominated the third quarter and kept Whatcom off the board. Jenna Killman scored her first of the night, Utley scored her 4th of the night, and Dose scored her 2nd of the night.

The third quarter ended with Oly Town up 8-4.

With what looked to be a scoreless fourth quarter ended with Whatcom getting their 5th and final goal of the night.
